Woohoo! Time to get started!
Welcome to this 30-day quest, during which you’ll create your own cento using fragments of text from Staying Power 2: Writings from a Year of Emergence. You’ll be able to share your cento, if you’d like, at our happy “Cento Celebration” at 6:00PM Central on February 27!
Remember, a cento is a literary work, usually a poem, created exclusively from lines or phrases lifted from the work(s) of another author (or authors). You assemble the excerpts in whatever order you wish, thereby bringing to life a rich, new text.
Hey, since it’s the weekend, let’s ease into this quest! How about introducing yourself to other participating Rafters? Use the button below.
On Monday we’ll rev up this quest with Challenge #1.
P.S. If you’d like to chat with other Rafters about this quest, get the Raft app! Look for the 30-Day Quest thread to connect with other questers!
Hi everybody! I'm Julie and I'm a retired middle school counselor, mom and grandmom. I write poetry and love it as well as reading other people's work. I met Phyllis when she had the website (forget the name) on which she posted beautiful poems to enjoy. Our paths have crossed again and I am happy happy. My retirement life is anything but! I am working on mindfulness and living with gratitude. Can't wait to meet all of you.
My name is Shelly. I am 60 and work in education as a speech and language pathologist. I live in Dallas, Tx and I am happy to be doing this.
