Funny, but yesterday at Christmas dinner (a buffet at a hotel in Flagstaff) I was thinking along these lines. Felt fortunate to have a feast of foods from which to choose, to be be warm and was still wondering how much is too much, and about all the people in the world who go without. I didn't dwell on it, but the ideas of simplicity and equity were definitely swirling in the back of my mind.
I like this poem because it voices many thoughts I also have--yes, I wonder about the people around me, what they are doing in their homes when I can see them in a lighted room, what their lives are like, etc. I am astonished when I consider how many people there are on this planet and that we are all doing something different...or the same.
enough
Like a miniature temple...yes, life, all of it, is sacred!
Peace

The more I read the poem the less certain I understand its meaning. Thanks for your comments, Rafters.
Meaning . . . elusive . . . too large for encapsulation . . . mystery?
