❤️ We are all “in this” together….

Just saw this quote online over at the Begin With Yes website & thought it applicable to “refuge”:

“When you're feeling lonely, find someone who could use a little company. When you're scared, help someone else be brave. When you're stuck, encourage someone else to take a small step. When you're depressed, make someone else smile. When you're defeated, cheer on someone stepping out into the unknown. When your heart is broken, help a friend mend theirs. And when things are going smoothly and are unfolding just the way you want, be grateful and bring someone else along with you.” ~ Paul Boynton, Begin With Yes website

Thanks to you I discovered Carrie Newcomer, even got to see her perform in Wisconsin several weeks ago. Beautiful voice, wonderful words. Somewhere in this process and around the elections I mentioned I felt I no longer had a refuge. My sister said, I will be your refuge. We find our sanctuaries in the darkest times.

Bless your sister for being your refuge. From a distance, I make you the same promise. And I’m so glad you got to experience Carrie in a live performance. She’s a dear.

Good way to start this Monday morning. Although, these lines made me feel a bit sad:

"In a state of true believers

On streets called us and them

It's gonna take some time

'Til the world feels safe again"

The proliferation of misinformation has made this too true.

I think “take some time” is a permanent state of affairs . . . but we carry on!

Listening to sweet Carrie sing this makes me cry every time. It’s the song that crystallized my love for my partner years ago and does so again and again.

For some reason, I am only seeing this today, several days after it was posted. As often happens lately, this was serendipitous. Today is the day I really needed both of these poems as well as Carrie Newcomer's beautifully moving musical rendition which I cannot wait to share. Thank you again, Phyllis, for your mastery in curating such delightful and meaningful offerings each day. The have brought me joy and solace in equal measure and I have shared them with others who feel the same way.
