HAPPY
Soufian Zoghlami
You're still hiding in the park
You look so happy when you're down, down, down
Under the trees where you won't be found
And you're still dancing in the dark
You still look happy when you're down, down, down
No one can see you spinning round and round
And your feet, they keep on moving
Even when the nights are cold
When you're old, will you still be dancing on
Into the dawn of the light?
I haven't seen you for a while
You still look happy when you're down, down, down
You keep on moving to keep warm when the leaves turn brown
You're still reaching up to the sky
It makes you happy when you're down, down, down
I still believe, that one day you will take off from the ground
And your stars, they keep on burning
Even when the nights are cold
When you're old, will you still be dancing on
Into the dawn?
Hear the voices singing everywhere
Singing love is coming down to those who care
Hear the voices singing everywhere
Singing love is coming down to those who care
Oh-oh, and your feet, they keep on moving
Even when the nights are cold
When you're old, will you still be dancing on
Into the dawn?
And your stars, they keep on burning
Even when the nights are cold
When you're old, will you still be dancing on
Into the dawn of the light?
(My thanks to the songwriter and Bukahara—and most of all, to the dancers!)

Not sure what to make of the lyrics with the dance -- when you're down down down? Meaning, when we're depressed, or homeless, or "old." Or any/all of the above? Or am I making too much of this, looking for context? Yes, of course, it's about being in our bodies and joyful, the power of dance and of ourselves to transform and be transformed. And that is wonderful, and the video is wonderful. May I suggest another take on dancing when old -- Betti Franceschi's photographs on "ageless dancers." Full disclosure, my sister is among them. https://www.bettifranceschi.com/agelessdancers.htm
Dear Phyllis: I haven't thanked you for all your daily inspirational poems and thoughts that start my day. Today's was very special but so many of them are and I have been neglectful in thanking you. I save them in a file so I can go back to them. God bless you!
