thank you for introducing me to Carrie Newcomer. I just listened to her Do Not Harm song/poem and was very very moved. She's leading a retreat in WI next month, I think.
Counting blessings instead of sheep is the ritual that lulls me off to sleep. Giving thanks for my blessings when I awake is a ritual that starts a joy-filled day.😊
Love your list because it prompts me to be thankful for things I might have neglected in my gratitude 🙏 today it is my library card. Three new books to stimulate my wildest imaginings lie on floor near my reading chair flagged with bookmarks to contemplate and inspire my journey into new beginnings.
Awww... Another Carrie song! We invite her to do a concert here on Whidbey Island now and then. Always a treat to get a little time with her. My husband and I sometimes take turns saying our gratitudes in bed at night until the cadence slows and he falls asleep as I ponder more...
Actually this is one of Carrie's poems. She has been publishing more of her poetry over the past few years . . . Thanks for sharing the occasional custom shared by you and your husband. Such a sweet ending to a day . . .
Another before-sleep ritual we've had is reading Poetry of Presence aloud, poem by poem. We took a detour after that, but PoP2 is patiently waiting on my nightstand. Sometimes I'll find a poem, hand the book to Karl with "read this!" and he'll say, "Read it to me." He's always my final editor before I send anything off, but I've tweaked that exchange a bit after your earlier post that included reading your friend's words aloud. We do that in one of my critique groups, but it never occurred to me that it would help in this situation. Thank you.
Sweet...very sweet
Carrie speaks it straight—and always sweet.
Wonderful! Three cheers for library cards!
I'll bet you don't have one of those . . . 😉
I so agree…it makes for a peaceful way to start your sleep 🛌👌🏻
I have a bedtime ritual each night…speaking to the Universe when I get in bed in gratitude & prayer 🙏
Bookending your day with gratitude! (With volumes of gratitude between!)

Carrie is a great soul. If you can get to the retreat, you'll be glad you went . . .

Thanks Phyllis!
This one rolled right up your alley, didn't it, Myrtle! So excited for your upcoming gratitude journaling workshop!

Wonderful! Care to share the titles of the books? (Just curious.)
You know it!!! Made me write my little poem 🤣🤣. I'm so looking forward to it!

Ha! No wonder I didn't know the song. I didn't even think about her poetry when I read it. The music comes through...
That's astute! Her lyrics and her poems certainly share a similar voice, don't they?

Oh, you've got me smiling, Deb! Thank you for all of this. And keep making from your true spot!
