When I'm working on myself, chipping away at the layers of karma/sin/whatever you want to call it, I am the patience and persistent stonecutter.

When I pray and converse with God, the stonecutter who is patiently working to free me from all those layers (what a job!), I am the stone.

And when I cease worrying about the whole business and focus on whatever my next step is today-- nay, in this moment--then I am the hammer.
