I surrender to my Poetic Muse. She gives me the patience to let my ideas simmer like a homemade spaghetti sauce, always tastier the next day.

I often find that when I'm thinking too hard about an idea (e.g. a story plot), I get stuck. If I relax (e.g. meditate) and let the idea float around, then delightfully surprising things happen. In other words, too much ego involvement and ideas get bogged down; letting them go allows them to rearrange themselves according to their own intelligence.

Oh, yes! All of what you say resonates with me. And I love this: "allows them to rearrange themselves according to their own intelligence."

I've done lots of non-fiction and tech writing in the past (as Kraig Brockschmidt, my given name), but am now working on fiction. What I said applies to both!
