I am late to the "Share and Show party"--it's "Octobrrrrrr,", not July (as I was out kayaking most of that month) but I felt like sharing a poem today. Our family of outdoor enthusiasts canoed, boated, and sailed. My brother taught me to read a river when I was in high school. He lived on the edge and always sought out fast-running, spring-run-off rivers. One spring he took me on a roiling river near our hometown of Wausau, WI where I learned in a hurry! Here's a poem that was published In "Portage Magazine" (a lit. mag. from Carroll Univ. in Wis.) this year about those lessons he taught me and that have served me well for many years of canoeing and kayaking. https://portagemagazine.org/reading-a-river/
