REPAIR
Julie Barton
The dishwasher repairman
sits on the floor of my kitchen
reading the manual while
the appliance sits in pieces.
Nothing is being screwed in
or replaced and there is no
clanking or banging of
parts or tools. Just his breath
as he studies the manual,
turns his head sideways.
I have faith that he will
figure it out. I don’t hover.
I am in the other room
writing this poem, thinking
about all the things that don’t
come with instructions for repair.
(My thanks to Julie Barton at .)

What a great visual of the dishwasher and repair man trying to figure out the actual problem . I love the set of tools nearby too. Thank you Phyllis for all you do and your efforts at connecting all of us through poetry. Happy Nature, Oma
Ahhhh...the countless things that don't have instructions for repairs could fill a book. Not hovering is one good way to handle this.
