I considered playing an April Fools’ Day joke on you, but, well, you’re just too wonderful . . .
WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD
George David Weiss & Robert Thiele
I see trees of green and red roses too
I see them bloom, for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed days and the dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of a rainbow
So pretty in the sky
And also other faces
Of all the people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying "how do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"
I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll know much more
Than I'll never know
And I think to myself (self)

THURSDAY: Poetry Pick-Me-Up (Zoom, 12:00-1:00PM Central, at this link)
Such a classic! I absolutely love Jon Batiste, so this was a great April Fool's gift and a nice start to the week.
David Weiss has said that he wrote this specifically for Louis Armstrong. Weiss also write Lullaby if Birdland, for which he was inducted into the songwriters hall of fame. He also wrote the score for Gidget Goes to Rome!
