“One Minute for Change” is a global action that began in Vienna, Austria, on summer solstice. According to the website, the project is meant to express our desire to change our dealings with the planet and one another, spreading “our joyful commitment to a better life for everyone.”
How can you participate in this action? Simple: Engage in one minute of pause in any public space. (For an example, view the video above.) Begin by exclaiming"One minute for change!" Have a sign with you with the web address oneminuteforchange.org so interested people can find more information. For the rest of the minute, do whatever feels appropriate, such as . . .
sitting in silence
playing music
reading a poem
dancing
singing
reciting inspirational quotes
making a statement of values
Conclude the action by repeating "One minute for change!” Then continue on your way as if nothing has happened.
You can take this pause at any time or place, alone or in a group. If you’d like, post your participation to social media using the hashtag #oneminuteforchange.
