Many of us will sorely miss Harry Belafonte, who died earlier this year. But his spirit lives on in his music.
“Turn the World Around” always gets me moving! And I’m especially happy to share it today in honor of Juneteenth, when we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US.
The full lyrics of the song are too long to post here, but here’s a taste:
"Heart is of the river
Body is the mountain
Spirit is the sunlight
Turn the world around
We are of the spirit
Truly of the spirit
Only can the spirit
Turn the world around”
Bless you, Harry. And bless everyone who celebrates liberation.
(My thanks to the late Harry Belafonte.)

Love this so much! I had forgotten about this song- and as always, the great Harry Belafonte is just perfect! Have you listened to much of Jon Baptiste's work? Keeps me moving on the worst of days.
Oh WOW!!! I hadn't heard this before but resonates so strongly with all that I've been reading lately. My heart broke open! Great start for the week!
