Play around with assembling your excerpts. (Be sure to include the page numbers with the excerpts, for later use.) Remember, you don’t need to have an overall topic or framework in mind for your cento. Embrace the process and see what emerges.
You might try grouping your excerpts by similar, related, or contrasting
images
themes
sounds or rhymes
voices
You might also want to group excerpts by your sense of whether they might work well toward the beginning, the middle, or the end of the cento.
Try different combinations and orders. This week, set nothing in stone. Have fun!
Share one of your favorite “groupings of gold” in the comments!
P.S. If you’d like to chat with other Rafters about this quest, get the Raft app! Look for the 30-Day Quest thread to connect with other questers!
P.S.S. Remember our “Cento Celebration” at 6:00PM Central on February 27! Registration is required for this free event. Register here.
Eyes of insects and other invertebrates,
Bare patches of earth,
A company of stars –
Simple miracle spirit,
A sturdy net
As deep as the sky is high.
